At the beginning of every school year, it is so easy to get caught up with the routine. We often wonder how the year went past at the end of the year. The television, internet and demands of an everyday life have an annoying habit of swallowing up the weekends. This school year, build some memories that your child can hold on to. All it takes is a few hours on a weekend, and it could churn out memories for a lifetime. We have a few suggestions to give you a head start. Invite a few of your child’s friends over and you are all set to get the party started.

Food has a heart warming effect of bringing everyone together. Have a make your own pizza meal with the children. Buy or make some small pizza bases, have bowls of fresh vegetables, shredded cheese, onions and sauce. Let the kids make the pizza in anyway they want, you would be surprised on how creative they can get. All of you have to do is bake the pizzas, and the kids would be delighted to eat their own creations.

Gather around a bunch of kids, and tell them at the end of the day they need to put a play. The story, props, invites to the play and everything else is completely their responsibility. The make believe world is very special to every child, so we are sure they would love this activity. In the evening, clear away the furniture, gather the parents, and prepare for a fun evening.

Organize a personal heritage walk of your younger days. Show your children where you lived, where you went to school and other land marks of your life. Those places may be razed and replaced by flashy new buildings, so carry photographs if you can. Tell them stories from your life, and I am sure the children would be happy to meet another side to their parents.

Try camping out on your terrace or your garden. Set the place up with some fans, comfortable mattresses, and if you could borrow a tent, even better! Count the stars, tell stories, sing and have a mid night snack. It’s such a great way to bond with the family, and it would be a night to remember.

All it takes is some creativity and effort and you could create memories for a lifetime. We hope your child has the best year ahead, with lots of fun and laughter. Don’t forget to take photos :)
